Shakeb Hamdard was born in 1984 in Chahar Dehi area of Kabul, Afghanistan, to a middle class family.
In 1989, Shakeb was enrolled at Sultan Razia School in Kabul, however he was only in the fourth grade when he was forced to leave Afghanistan, along with thousands of others, due to the civil war at the time. He left for Pakistan with his family where he stayed until he finished year 10. After the coming of peace to Afghanistan, he returned with his family and finished school at Habibia High School.
In 2005, Shakeb Hamdard took part in the then new progarm, Afghan Star , and managed to make it all the way to the finals and to become the first ever Afghan Star. This show is now one of the most popular programs in Afghanistan.
Since his success in Afghan Star, Shakeb Hamdard released a single called "Gul Dana Dana" in 2006 which was a big hit - this marked his coming of age as a musician and singer. To see parts of Shakeb's performance on Afghan Star Season 2 as a guest performer.
Since then, he signed up with Barbud Music and has been working on his first CD, Mashallah , which was composed, arranged, recorded and produced in Kabul, Afghanistan. The CD has been recorded in Barbud's studios in Kabul, but has been printed to the highest qualities in Dubai, UAE. It is currently for sale in Afghanistan for only 75 Afghanis per CD retail. Shakeb is a big fan of Amir Jan Sabori and Farhad Darya and follows local Afghan musicians. He loves listening to happy songs.
Shakeb is currently single and lives with his mother and sister (his father having passed away during the war).
He currently works as a supervisor in a private company.
